I Won't Grow Up

Ladies, what are your thoughts on the Peter Pan collar?  I like the way they look on others, and am sort of obsessed with this dress from ASOS.  However, I've reached a point in my life where I have a solid idea of what styles work on my shape and which ones aren't as flattering.  In light of this, the Peter Pan dress, despite its total cuteness, might look a little too costume-y or comically girlish on an hourglass shape like mine.  Okay, so let's pretend like this is an clip on What Not To Wear -- bring on your nuggets of fashion wisdom!

  1. Love this i think it would be nice if you dont wear too many accessories or colours. Just on its own with maybe boots for dressing down and heels for dressed up!

  2. I feel the same way! See if you can find a Peter Pan collar on a lower, more scooped neckline. More flattering for big boobies but still on trend!

  3. I think this dress is adorable. And honestly, anything you wear with confidence you'll wear well. At least try something on with the Peter Pan collar. You might just be surprised. It could be the wrong cut for you, but you'll never discover new things if you don't try them.

  4. I think Whimsically Random hit the nail on the head - keep it simple, and go for neutral colors so it looks sophisticated instead of cutesy. :-)

  5. this is a completely sweet dress, but one i'll have to admire from afar. high collars are not flattering on me, not to mention the fact i already have (some) people asking if i'm still in high school... (direct quote: "do your parents know you work here?")

but totally adorable on the right girl, i should think.

  7. Gasp! I adore it! But I am wearing mostly v-necks so I doubt the shape is right for me either :)

    Happy Wednesday!

  8. Super cute, but doesn't work as well on all body types. I think with a petite figure like the models it works, but I'm a bit stalky and that neckline would close me off, make my chest look bigger, and shorten my neck. Very pretty on her though!!!

Maybe i would look beter in Peter Pan's v-neck shirt to elongate my neck, hahah

  14. I'm right there with you-there are some things I just know by now to avoid, and anything with a jewel neck and gathered, blousy waist is on the list! It doesn't mean that this little number isn't absolutely adorable, though!

  15. This is adorable. I say go for it. Rock it with all you've got and at the very least, you'll look happy wearing it!

  16. Personally, I love it! I think if you stay away from really girlie accessories (like bows, lace or mary janes) you won't be too girlish. On the other hand, it may look great if you go all out!

  19. I would totally wear this particular dress, and I like this little tiny version of a peter pan collar. BUT I'm still a little scarred from the huge peter pan collars I wore as a child in the early 90s....and I think the peter pan collar could go downhill fast if not done carefully (like denim-on-denim)
